Need some help desperately!

So, I’m an idiot and when switching servers and deleting my old server, I didn’t realize that parts were still “rsync’ed” with my new server. Effectively deleting all of my photos i’ve ever had!

I’ve been able to get most all as I had them on other drives. One Album though, the birth of my daughter, I haven’t found. I still see the images on my plex with the trash can over them, as I don’t have empty trash enabled. I was wondering if there was a way to get the pictures that plex is using as the “poster” for each image out of the appdata? I know that it’s not full res and won’t replace my lost photos, but it’s atleast something to have from the day she was born!

Thanks,

-J

if you ‘edit’ or ‘get info’ of the poster with the trash, you should be able to identify the path/filename of the picture and start looking there.

if that path is still around somewhere, your pictures should be there.

but if that path/filename has been deleted, then it sounds like you may be out of luck :frowning:

Thanks, yeah the path was absolutely trashed… What I’m hoping is to find a way to download the poster itself since I can still see a smaller version. Not the best quality but better than nothing!

Just don’t know where plex stores the “posters” or thumbnails for the photos library so I can recoup these posters and add them back into my library in place of the old full res ones.

do the ‘get info’ thing above, then click the ‘view xml’

within the xml you should see a bunch of stuff, look for the paths

thumb="/library/metadata/274105/thumb/1583962282" art="/library/metadata/274103/art/1513913419

the /library/metadata path should be wherever your plexdata is stored on that server.

where is your plex data? see below

I found another way to get it thankfully… I just had to inspect the page in chrome and I can open up all the posters and download them. it’s a bit tedious but absolutely worth it! Thanks again for your help TeknoJunky!
