Setting Posters for Photo Albums disappear over time

I’ve started using Plex to store some comics I’ve got in a Photos Library. The comics are organized by series then underneath that each comic issue is stored. On my NAS they are in a series directory then each issue has a directory under the series. When I initially loaded the comics I had into the library I set posters for both the series and then for each issue. I’ve noticed that over time the posters have started disappearing. See attachments. These attachments all had posters set but now they are seemingly gone. This isn’t happening in just Plexeb as iOS and Roku end up showing the same thing over time. Is there some way to try and debug this? In the case of Action Comics it should already have posters set.

Thanks.

First thing I would try is optimizing your server database. it can be found in the libraries option menu on the home screen. I will often help with loading if the database is a screwy

not sure what OS you are using but can you check in .../Plex Media Server/Metadata and see if there are loose folders just named a letter or number in it which should contain the metadata bundles with the posters you chose for the albums. I just want to make sure they are even there.

I’m using a Mac for my server with the latest version of PMS. I’m looking in here:

~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata

I’ve attached a screen shot of what I am seeing. The bundle directories I’ve checked are empty.

Thanks

I’ve also run optimize. Still the same.

Just a quick update. In my original post I included an attachment that showed “Amazing Spider-ma…”. It was the only one with a poster in that attachment. Since that post the poster has now disappeared from the various clients I checked. I should also mention that “Photos” is the only library that has this poster disappearance over time issue. I’ve included an updated attachment.

Thanks.

yeah i was trying to reproduce and could not then today after seeing your reply i checked again and the bundle files on my setup are now empty also. they should contain the image file selected for one of the albums/comics each.

This is may take some time to figure out what is triggering them to be removed

I have had the same issue for few months. I thought that it was my database so I’ve removed everything couple of weeks ago and added all sections back again.

Looking at my Photos section today - all but 3 Photo Albums have posters removed.

@BigWheel Is this issue by any chance fixed in 0.9.17.0? I wasn’t able to spot this issue in the change log?

@BigWheel This issue is still occurring for me in the latest PMS DVR Beta. I’ve not seen this bug called out as fixed in any of the change logs up to this point. It’s been a while now; is this bug still slotted to be fixed?

@chrisallen

Thanks!

@BigWheel It’s been a year now; any chance this might ever see the light of day in terms of being fixed? Would really love for the posters to stick around.

@BigWheel It’s almost been another year. Any chance this issue might get fixed?

@elan You think you guys could actually fix this? It’s almost been two years now.

This has finally been fixed with a recent PMS release. Thanks Plex!!
