I am looking for suggestions to improve my overall Plex Experience. The main problem I am having is the occasional “This server is not powerful enough to convert video” message.
My media library consist mainly of DVDs that have have ripped throughout the years and TV shows in various formats. If need be I am open to optimizing the media library to a common format. But with the size of my library I am not sure that option is feasible.
I have a 32TB NAS (WD PR4100) storing my media library. Mainly movies, but I do have a few TV shows as well. The media is then accessed by a Plex Server on the local network. Plex Media Server is running on a Late 2014 Mac Mini with a 2.6 GHz i5 and 8 GB of RAM. Not sure if it matters or not, but the media is accessed using an AFP network share from the NAS. Both the NAS and the Mac Mini are directly wired to a Gigabit Asus RT-AC87R router. I have a 250 MEG fiber internet connection.
I have two main clients that access the server from the local network and some that access it remotely.
Here is a summary of my Plex Environment:
WD PR4100 NAS
Late 2014 Mac Mini w/ 2.6 GHz i5 & 8GB of ram
Asus RT-AC87R Gigabit Router
Local Clients:
Apple TV 4th Gen (Wireless)
Samsung UN32F5500 (Wireless)
Remote Clients:
4 - iPhones
2 - iPads
2 - Android Phones

I am open to any suggestions wether they be hardware changes, setting tweaks, etc.
