Negative Unwatched Count

Continuing the discussion from Plex Web:

So was the negative number fix just making it to where it won’t show a negative number and not the underlining issue? I have every episode marked unwatched and it tells me I have 70 unwatched, but there are 76 episodes (77 with the special). I have 13 shows with 62 episodes with this issue.

Try refreshing the metadata for that show

I’ve done that. in my library, it’s marked unwatched. I have everything in my library marked as unwatched. When I go to my profile, it says I have 13 shows and 62 episodes. I’ve found some shows in “Discover” have some episodes of some shows are marked watched. Although, when I go into them episode by episode, they are marked as unwatched.

I’ve tried marking the series as watched. Before, it would show I had negative episodes watched. Now, that’s “fixed”. But I think the “fix” wasn’t fixing the underlying issue. I think it’s more “if negative then show nothing” fix.

There’s also nothing in my activity feed. Just trying to get this all back to 0, but it appears there’s some bug in Discover that is misreporting watched status of shows/movies.

After I saw your post, I went in just to check if I had the same issue. A quick scan of the library I found my Stranger Things was showing 25 episodes on the main show poster but there’s 34 episodes total

I refreshed the metadata and it immediately changed to the correct overall count

All Online media sources and Discovery items are disabled on my server

It almost sounds like we have the same problem on the opposite ends. My server reports correctly, but not the Discovery aspect. I’ll give it a go though. I just disabled Discovery sync and started a refresh of the metadata on the entire library.

My thought is that something on Plex’s end isn’t syncing right with my server, but here’s to hoping the refresh is the solution.

I’m back and it’s still a no go. Here’s what I tried:

Turn off sync. Full meta data refresh. No change. 13 shows and 64 episodes still watched.
Turn on sync. Full meta data refresh. I had some shows and episodes marked as watched. My shows and episode count went up by the amount that was marked watched. I mark unwatched and it goes back down to 13 shows and 64 episodes. I check the discover section. It shows they are unwatched, however, I can mark them unwatched and nothing changes.

So while we have the same issue, it appears it’s on the opposite end of things. Mine is with Discover and yours was local server.

Which takes me back to my original question of what was the fix? Was it just a “if negative show nothing”? That’s what it looks like from my view. That’s not a fix. The problem is still there.

Note that Discover shows the TMDB episode listing. If your libraries are using TVDB episode ordering, and there are discrepancies between the two sites, the watched count shown in your library and in Discover can be different.

THANK YOU! I tested it on one show. I switched the metadata to TMDB, marked it as watched. Marked it as unwatched and just one show took it down to 7 shows and 41 episodes! I’ll continue on with it.

I have finished refreshing my entire library to TMDB. It didn’t sync anything in. So I went through every show and marked them as watched, refreshed, checked total watch count, and saw almost all of them add to my watch statistics. All of them added to episode count, but 5 of them did not add to show watched count.

I marked them watched in my library and it would add to episode count, but not show count. I marked them unwatched and episode count would go back to 41. Still not sure where the problem is stemming from.
