Does anyone have this router and if it is a good idea to move my plex server off my iMac server to the router?
Also any thoughts on this router I am trying to improve wifi strength throughout the house and this looks like it can do it an handle the multitude of devises I have connected to my current router.
No I don’t and no it will not be better than your Imac

One word - hardwire
I have been using the R9000 as a Plex server for almost 2 years with 2 WD Easystore 8TB USB 3.0 drives for Media, #1 has 1.95 TB of TV Shows in MP4 and #2 has 3.5 TB of movies.
I’ve been very happy with the performance of the R9000 as a Plex server for my use while I’ve been home. However as an interstate truck driver being away from home for 2 or 3 months at a time was frustrating because every few weeks it would lose the assigned USB drive and have to be reassigned. Keep in mind that the R9000 is limited to one transcode at 480p.
When I first got the R9000 we had trouble with it crashing and being away, my Wife was not impressed. This seems to have been solved with a firmware update and for the last year and a half its been very stable. WiFi signal has been very good and covers our 3700 Sq .Ff. house with signal.
We live outside a small town 30 miles south of Oklahoma City and our best internet choice is Windstream G Bonded DSL modem @ 50Mb down, 4Mb up. So remote streaming the Plex server is pretty limited.
