Network Speakers

Hello, i’m looking to buy a couple of network speakers to put in a couple of rooms at home so that I can play my music from my NAS via Plex.

How easy is it to play music to each speaker as I choose or is this not supported within PLEX.

Might help if you elaborate on what system you are looking into.

I know there is a thread in the 3rd Party Other section regarding Sonos, if that’s the one your looking at it would be a good place to start. Plex doesn’t have any 1st party clients that work with wireless speakers, but if they support dlna it will probably be able to see the server.

Im getting a NAS TS-453 Pro as my storage device and then using PLEX as my software.

The speakers I was looking at were Monitor Audio S200 but I was just wondering whether Plex would see them on the server as separate devices or one complete network and thus when I played music to them it would go through all the speakers rather than allowing me to choose one at a time which is what I would like.

I know Sonos is a easier to use but after a bit of research these speakers I am looking to use have better sound and options than Sonos plus they seem to fit within my price bracket.

The Monitor are DLNA compatible which is how I was going to connect them up.

Any advice would be more than welcome.

Well, plex will function as a DLNA server, but you will still need an app on your phone to push to the DLNA client (the Plex apps push to other Plex clients, they won’t see DLNA clients). So it’s going to be based more on how your app sees the speakers and what type of control the speakers themselves give you, this is likely more of a question for the speaker manufacturer or reseller.

Sonos are compatible to any software its easy to operate and it has the best quality sound
