Plexamp: Stream music from my home server to office Sonos speakers?

I have noticed an odd thing in Plexamp.

When I try to stream music from my home server to the Sonos speakers at my work office, the only speakers that shows up are the ones at my home; not the ones at my work office.

At work, I’m always connected my office’s wifi, not using any VPN or such. I can control our office speakers using the Sonos app, on both iOS and MacOS.
But Plexamp (mac/ios) does not ”see” the speakers.

My Plex server (at home) runs on a Synology NAS (Plex .SPK).

Is it a bug causing this or is this normal behaviour?

The Plex Sonos integration relies on the cloud and possibly the office speaker aren’t connected to your account? That’s a guess, at least.

Thanks for your response!

You’re right, it is not my Sonos account the office speakers are logged into (and by that, not my Plex account linked to the Sonos account). I didn’t know it was a prerequisite.

For me as a an end user, a solution that utilizes some sort of direct streaming to the Sonos speaker would be prefered (something like Spotify Connect).

Cheers!

if the Sonos speakers are Airplay compatible (many of them are), you could use that instead.

Thanks. Unfortunately the speakers are old Play 5’s so AirPlay is not an option.

I know there are alternatives, as AirConnect and such, but I thought it would be nice to connect to the speakers directly.
