Networking, PMS, NAS question...Best Practice?

Happy new year!

This might be a simple network question, but I thought I would ask anyway.

I have a QNAP TS-431±US 4-bay Personal Cloud NAS as my storage provider for my media. I built an awesome Plex build based off of recommendations from JDM_WAAAT via Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/search?sort=new&restrict_sr=on&q=flair%3ABuild%2BAdvice

If you are looking to build a reasonablly priced dedicated Plex server, I highly recommend taking a look at his Reddit.

So my question is will the Plex server run even better, directly connected to the NAS? The server has a dual NIC so it is possible. The dual NIC supports 1000BASE-T, Intel® i350 Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet. Currently, The NAS is connected to the server, via wire, in another room and goes through a switch and over CAT 5E. The distance to the other room where the NAS currenly resides is maybe 30-40 ft. Moving it would shrink it to max 5-6ft.

I think I know the answer, but wanted validation.

Thank you for taking time to review.

Won’t make any difference. 1GbE is your NW limitation as you are well within cable spec. Leave your QNAP & Server both connected to your GbE switch.
