After migrating my Plex Media Server to DMS7 a month ago I noticed that ad detection was no longer enabled on my server. I turned it back on to “Detect commercials and mark for skip”, with “For all items” enabled, and it has been busy running ad detection on TV shows since.
The problem is it didn’t take this this long in the past, so I started watching the logs and realised it’s re-scanning the same shows, possibly all of them, day in and day out - I see lots of entries in the logs like this:
Library section 15 (TV Shows (recordings)) will be updated because of a change in "/volume1/video/TV (recordings)/Show/Season 00/Show-S01.E01-Episode-Name.log"
I can see it writing the temp .txt, .logo.txt, and .log files in the media folder next to the episode, so it’s not a write permissions error at least. Also, none of the timestamps of the media is changing, so that’s not the issue.
I’ve also disabled “Scan my library periodically” and “Empty trash automatically after ever scan” last night as I read this can cause similar issues, but at this stage it’s still scanning the same shows it was yesterday.
Any help would be appreciated.
