New Airings Only

I no longer have the option to record New Airings Only even though new episodes of shows are currently airing. When I go into the guide to record the option for New Airings Only is gone. Is it because I’m using an older tuner? I had a newer one that get damaged during a thunder storm. Sorry if this has been asked and I did try to comb through the posts to find similar problem but I couldn’t find an answer. Thanks.
