Try the 7.5 apks here… Seems to help with issue.
having buffering problems everytime i use plex now .
its been perfect for years until a few months ago .
i have both chromecast 1 and 2
same result on both just stutters .
if i reset modem/router ,wifi and chromecasts then it works until next time,
needs fixing urgently
also i can stream netflix 1080p to both devices and no problems at all
I have the same problem. Chromecast, wireless buffering all the time when file is over 2mbps, ps4 or anyother device has no problem with files 4Mbps.
Exact same issue.Worked flawlessly for years now suddenly buffering constantly using the android app to cast.
I am having the same issues as well with two chromecast 1st and 2nd gen that my parents use…
Same issue. Chromecast 2, internet streaming (1Gbps line).
Also getting this, only with the Plex app on Android, if I cast directly from the Plex webui it works flawlessly - has to be a change to the app?
For me Chromecast with Plex stopped working as intended since 1.13.5.5291 update. Constant buffering (Chromecast 2nd gen, firmware 1.32.124602, connected to 5GHz network, speed >260 mbps), sometimes Chromecast just resets. Have no problems with other casting apps, like Air Video HD. Plex 1.13.5.5332 - same issues. Rolled back to 1.13.4.5271 and all issues are gone. I watch a lot of movies, so it’s not a coincidence - it’s definitely bug of Plex Server 1.13.5.****
Common theme seems to be only having issues when EAC3 Audio codec is used
Same problem here with chromecast 2 on wifi and on ethernet. Since about 2-3 weeks… very annoying. Freeze at random time 10 to 30 minutes…
Did you try the 7.5 apk that I linked above?
I try to watch an episode or movie, it starts buffering after 12 minutes, recovers after 1-3 minutes but will stop again before episode is over. Or had to stop and restart to resume…
Started about 3-4 weeks ago… only when casting to chromecast, if i stream on my phone or on my computer there is no issues
I am experiencing similar issues. Even my PS4 has better playback. Also after clicking on play it takes like 30-60 seconds before the video even starts playing at all. No problems on any other devices.
In the past videos would start playing nearly instantaneous and show no sign of buffering even with BD quality. Now even my 2Mbps streams freeze randomly/get’s stuck in an endless buffering loop. Some days they play back fine, sometimes I have to restart the stream 3 times for a 20 minutes Episode.
Having issues with playback on Chromecast too. Seems it is only happening when files are Direct Played. When i reduce the quality of the stream to anything lower than tha of the original file, and the server thus starts transcoding, the issue disappears.
Hi, still suffering these issues with latest versions of app and server
Now I can almost always recover the stream by using the ten-seconds-rewind button, but anyway this is something to be fixed…
Br!!!
I would like to add my +1 to this issue as well. Pretty much the same situation as everyone else, strong interent connection, network and hardware but still random skipping every so often. I am able to play the stream concurrently on Plex Web matching the playback on the chromecast and it plays smooth on Plex web but skipping on Chromecast. Updated to the latest server software and tautulli shows direct play with no issues.
Hope the team is able to come up with a resolution. I am able to provide any logs or information that they would need.
Adding my +1 to this problem…
Plex is actually unusable for me on the chromecast
Hi there,
Same problem Here,
I try to use a personal Chromecast.xml inside Profiles directory created for this but no way… PMS directplay video but not the audio transcoded from AC3 to AAC…
ChromeCast 2 wifi and PMS on syno wired.
Hope plex team will find a way soon.
I have similar issues to everyone else. However it seems that when I stream from my android plex app I run into the issue. When I stream from chrome browser the issue seems to disappear. The issue appears to be a transcoding issue from the logs however I believe I have ruled that out after a lot of testing.
