New Computer

I have had Plex for a few years now, I bought a new computer installed the server but it cannot find the NAS drive on the network? a bit off topic but reading the forums on issues with plex I think if was made more user friendly they could make a lot more $. I have no programming or coding experience but did figure out how to load a decent library.

Easiest thing is to mount on the new PC the drive that you want Plex to see.
Then set the Plex library to see that drive and the media it contains…

I make different drives for different media types like;

G:\movies
H:\series
I:\videos

Log into your router and look for a list of network ‘DHCP clients’ or simply ‘hosts’.
You should be able to identify the IP of your NAS by its host name.

Then open the Windows file explorer (WIN+E) and type into the address bar
\\ip-address+Enter

You can also use this (so-called) “UNC path” directly in Plex.
Or connect it to a drive letter. (though that won’t work if you run plex server as a ‘Windows service’)
