I watch my TV shows in a playlist and “sync” the first 10 unwatched shows in this playlist to my iPad so that I can watch them on the go. The new “download” feature doesn’t allow me to select the number of shows to download. It also doesn’t give the option to download only unplayed episodes. This results in the entire playlist being downloaded to my iPad which eventually runs out of room and gets the downloads stuck and then there is nothing on my device. The download feature seems to be ok but is sadly missing these options so that it makes it unusable for me.
I would really appreciate it if you could incorporate these options into the Downloads feature.
Ah this now makes sense, ive had plexpass from 2012 and very rarely post, i just use the awesome software. Of late the sync has stopped working on the new fandangled download system. I work a lot of nights away from any sort of connections so download a good selection of stuff to keep me going, since this new system is in ive been left bored many nights in a row - to the point ive actually purchased some programs from google video to watch when I am away from connection and using netflix downloads.
The new system is a retrograde, less options, and buggy as hell. Sync was not the best but i never bad a night of boredom as it would eventually get the job done, this new download seems to get hung up constantly, never completes (or rarely) on 4g/5g. Even wifi on the same network is buggy, and needs constant monitoring.
It also seems a bit poor from plex stopping syncs from new shares without plex pass. This was a good way to share your server across a family, my 3 kids would sync stuff when we went away on holidays so any new members now wouldn’t be able to do that unless they share the primary account which then could open up inappropriately aged content to minors.
If it wasn’t for the sharing of plex sync 3 of my friends would have never set up their own servers with lifetime passes - they have now setup for their familys but future members wont be able to benefit from this.
Hi, I set my playlists up pre-pandemic so it’s been a few years. I swear that when I set them up the limit button was applied to each individual TV show. i.e. I had 20 different TV shows and they each had at least 4 episodes. I wanted the first 10, which was was sorted by air date, to download to my iPad so by setting the limit to 10 it would download 4 of two shows, 2 of one show and then stop. So I used the limit setting in the download/sync settings, which is now gone. I guess the Playlist/Limit changed so YAY, once I used the Limit setting in the Playlist all worked as expected. Except that once the shows are downloaded to the device, they disappear in the Items View. Says “There are no items in this playlist yet.” You can see them in the Libraries View but all the playlists are combined. A workaround could be setting up separate libraries for the downloads but this seems like a lot of unnecessary work and could get confusing.
Thank you for mentioning the limit setting. I’m happy that it works mostly in the way that I like.
