I tried to wait until an episode completed and it looks like it almost does and then it just errors saying error downloading, swipe to remove or tap. I clicked on that and the download restarted. Now it’s waiting to download because I also initiated a movie download.
Deleted the movie download (a feedback here: long pressing to delete is not intuitive, should just be a regular tap on the downloading to bring up the delete download menu - just tapping does not currently do anything)
Steps:
Open series
Tap the down arrow download button
Choose 3 episodes ahead, delete after a week
Now waiting until the episode completes. I see the percentage logs in the server console.
Server got to 100%, but in Downloads the load circle still is at almost finished. Libraries says no downloaded content. When I actually try to play the item, it errors as there was nothing downloaded. In Items, it has failed like before. Then restarts again. This keeps looping like that and never actually downloading anything successfully.
This happens with movie downloads as well.
Additionally, I do not see the Download menu item in the 3-dot menu as described here Download for Android Mobile | Plex Support for either movies or shows, only the down arrow button.
(Edit: Long pressing an item has Download in the context menu, as described in the support article.)
Is there anything else I can do to test? It seems that the 2 movies I tried to sync finally completed, but TV shows refuse to sync. It just keeps starting over and never actually completing. Nothing ever shows up in the Libraries tab.
For the record - this is on a Samsung Galaxy S10+. Is it doing some app sleeping magic that interferes with sync?
Ok, nope. It still just fails on some shows. Seems to be hit or miss.
Additional info: for movies, it transcodes (I have Video Quality set to 8 Mbps, 1080p HD), but seemingly not for shows. There may be a confounding variable here though which I am not aware of.
Thanks for reporting the problem @silvertoaster, hopefully with some additional help from you we’ll get to the bottom of it.
So I see a lot of Sync activity (as in the old Sync feature, the one that we’re replacing with Downloads) in those logs, makes it hard to follow what’s going on (also the fact that you’re downloading multiple things).
Can you please:
Delete your device from your “Authorized devices” list on plex.tv/web. This will ensure that any Sync items are deleted and the app doesn’t try to sync them again.
Install the app from scratch, download one of the item that fails (and just that one), and share the logs once you’re reasonable sure that the operation has failed and no progress is being made.
I want to add, this seems to be happening (so far) with only that specific file/show. I tried another one, and it doesn’t error like this after downloading. The console errors still appear though.
