New downloads on mobile sucks

5 months on the downloads feature is still awful. Just had to delete a whole series of shows which involved manually deleting each episode of 24 episode season. Each episode requires 3 clicks to remove, 72 clicks later they’re gone. On the old app it would have been one simple move and I could see which episodes have and haven’t been watched. Such a downgrade

When will the bloody devs address this? It’s been busted for months with no ETA on a resolution in sight.
The lack of communication is also extremely frustrating

Every time there’s an update, I check these forums to see if they’ve added this essential feature back yet.

Once again, they don’t care.

It’s the core function for me, and the reason I paid for a Plex Pass in the first place

I have to agree with everything being said… the downloads experience on the previous GUI was unpleasant and my hope was that the new experience would improve and get rid of the glitches. I even thought that maybe in the spirit of Agile development that the first iteration of downloads which is horrid would receive some love later on.

I guess that is too much to hope for. Downloads is a key driver of my Plex license purchase so I think at this point I need to find alternatives. It wouldnt even be that hard to fix for me:

  1. Bring back the ability to specify how TV shows / movies should be downloaded and maintained e.g. all episodes, unwatched etc (there is some of this, but it doesnt really perform like it used to)
  2. when maintaining the downloads we should be able to edit the rules from 1, and have those rules enforced e.g. If I download a series or Season, I dont want to have to delete every single episode to remove them… just let me update my rules and remove the content.
  3. ensure that the device stays awake when downloading just like the app will when a movie is playing… heck if it needs to be hacked just play a short loop video saying “downloading content to device” to keep the UI open and downloads flowing
  4. Ensure that watched episodes sync properly with their live parents in the gui and the offline ones. i.e. I want to know what I have watched and for the sequencing to be available. Why do I have to click each file individually to find the next episode… you have this data?
