New Experience Public Release Feedback

On both iOS and iPadOS:

  1. Tapping a tv show brings me to the first listed season, instead of to the show. Bringing up the … drawer and tapping “go to show” does nothing. There’s no way to get to other seasons.
  2. If playing something with the screen off, when the episode ends or paused from the lock screen, the app then goes to a blank screen with no ui and no way to continue without force-quitting the app.
  3. Scrolling down to cast images and related shows results in massive graphics issues, flickering and jumping around.

@dokuro and I even have a different Cast & Crew sort order than you do for some reason…

@dokuro and @Lazarus_Long can you please provide the app versions and confirm that you’re using the Plex Movie agents. It might be good to split this Cast & Crew discussion into it’s own thread.

Version 2025.10.2 (on IOS)

My own videos from my phone are all upside down and squashed together.
It’s embarrassing when a video player doesn’t do its main job properly.

I hope it will be a long time before Plexamp gets destroyed in version 5(?)!

You can use the plex dash app to do refreshes. Sure they should have ported over that functionality to plexamp before removing music from the main app but you don’t have to go to the web interface

Have been a lifetime Plex Pass member for over 11 years, can honestly say splitting out fully compatible functionality such as photos and music from a fully functional, single app, is as about as idiotic as when Netflix decided they were splitting off their streaming service into a new product called “Quickster”. Lasted a hot month before they undid that from such public backlash.

If you want specialized, singular apps for photos, or music, great, get your singular apps. But why castrate a perfectly fine app for those that want a one stop shop for their own content? Why do I need to download three apps to do the job of one? I often will turn on music and put my photo collection on shuffle when am at home. Now I can’t do that because I can no longer access my photos and music from the same app.

Who at Plex is coming up with these “new, innovative” ideas? I just want to access my content. I don’t care about frills, I don’t care about your sponsored content, I don’t care about you trying to inject other streaming services into it, I don’t care about your ‘Discover’ functionality. Sure, its great for some people but that’s not why I use Plex.

Awful awful awful.

Plex is clearly trying to hit some revenue goals for an investment round and they have sold their souls to the pressures of the investors.

This new update screams ad revenue and to hell with “your media, anywhere”.

Shame on you.

Every single developer, UI/IX, QA, Prod Manager, and the senior management team who pushed for this update need to hang their head in shame.

New design is not as easy to navigate as the old one, and it’s also a little bit more sluggish. But the one thing that’s annoying me, that’s been removed, is I can no longer download whole TV seasons in one go on the new app by holding on to the TV season and tapping the download option. That option has been removed completely, so if I wanted to download them now, I have to do it one episode at a time. It’s ridiculous.

Plus, I don’t want to see things like live TV, etc. I became a lifetime premium member to access my own content, not to see anybody else’s.

Whoever signed off on this new design should be ashamed because it’s now a worse app.

Thanks for the guidance! However, I dont own a desktop or laptop, just an iPad pro and an iPhone. Is there a way to create a video library without a PC?
i received the same response in another thread, to just go create an empty library. Again, is this possible with only an iPad pro?
@sixones @drzoidberg33 @Atomatth Do i have any way to do this? Or have I completely lost the ability to use Plex because I cant get past the „Pick your favorite libraries“ screen??

I don’t have “View All” either.

Scanner and Agent: Plex Movie

Server version: 1.41.6.9606

iOS app version: 2025.10.2 (981)

@Atomatth, now that you are here, can you please do something about theme music?

Is it gone for good? Didn’t it make it in the current release but will be enabled again?

Many thanks!

Hello, I actually like the new interface on the Apple TV. As feedback what would be nice to have:

  1. Ability to remove live tv, on demand and discover.
  2. When navigating home, pressing play/pause button on the remote on an item resumes or play the video, not needing to press ok then play/resume
  3. Have the IMDb rating on the library item
  4. Toggle option to show image / video trailer on the top right side, instead of just the image as it is now.
  5. Caching on the local device for faster switching between items on home page

Not as polished and mature as Plex, but it works great and it is reliable. Its biggest weakness imo is that it’s more complicated to setup and secure than Plex if you intend to use it over the Internet, and the users management isn’t as robust (you’ll have to create users manually, give them their username/password and the URL of your server, etc.). For personal use, a simple self-hosted VPN will do, but if you intend to share it to your family members and friends, you’ll want to use a reverse proxy for example (that’s the way mine is configured. https://jellyfin.mydomainname.com)

It’s a pretty serviceable piece of software imo and it’s my backup solution, but Plex, despite its quirks and its occasional non-sense and anti-consumer decisions (the new mobile app for example) remains the king of the jungle

Apologies if this has already been mentioned- I did try a keyword search!

I’ve encountered an issue where “Trending Trailers” and “Trending on Apple TV” sections are being displayed on the homepage in the iOS app.

Thee should not be displayed- I have not enabled them anywhere and I don’t even have Apple TV set up as a “service” in Plex.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to remove them, either via the Home Screen or the prefs page.

@fzsbh these are coming from the Discover source. You would need to disable that source in the web settings. See our support article on the matter.

@Yaracuy to my knowledge, it just didn’t make it the current release. On a more general note, most features that are missing fall into a similar bucket, not added yet. Obviously unless any feature was already mentioned as being removed or not supported. Sorry for any inconvenience, frustration, or confusion this has caused. Please continue to report anything you see as off. We are capturing all feedback.

Thank you for asking for feedback, but why now, when it’s too late?
You don’t build a house and ask afterwards: do they need sockets, an entrance, a drain or maybe windows. You have the usage behavior of your customers. Why isn’t this evaluated before development?
That can’t be the right way

Apologies if this has been asked but search didn’t help me:
Is there a way to customize the landing page in the new App? I only wanna see my own movies and my own TV shows.

I am an instructor at a local gym club. My music is hosted in plex and the app doesn’t show my personal music library. I normally turn off my phone signal when teaching because I don’t want calls to get through but I had to turn on right now because the folder for the music isn’t appearing nor even searchable. The web plex still shows the library and can still play and this update really is bad.

Unfortunately they removed music (and photos) from the latest Plex app - you’ll have to use the Plexamp app for music now.
