We only watch downloaded series. I have developed a robot that automatically (on a daily schedule) downloads all the new episodes (of the series I want) if it has not been downloaded yet, and then they are filed in the correct folder. If you want to binge a new season you first have to verify in IMDB that you have all the episodes. A routine job, that can be defined, to check if a season has been completed can be added which then adds an indicator to the series image, like the unwatched count. This will be a great feature. My current workaround is another robot, that is scheduled weekly, which verifies the episodes (where there is no “@” in the season folder name) against IMDB and then adds an “@” to the beginning of the season folder name if all episodes are available locally. The result of all completed seasons for the run is also then emailed to me.
This seems like something the Plex Meta Manager folks might be interested in; consider contacting them.
If you aren’t aware of Sonarr, take a look. Although it’s commonly discussed for piracy - not appropriate here - it’s also a really nice way to keep track of episodes, seasons, season status, and media file and folder naming.
