Looking at the new features that access ‘online content’(News, Movies, and Tidal, etc…) and how that content ‘routes’. Does this content stream from the internet to the playback client? Or is this content streaming from the internet to the inhouse plex server and then to the playback client?
It would be appreciated if someone knows or has tested this. Setting up a wireshark experiment tapping individual switch ports in my case would be a bit of a job.
Thank you for the point. I missed this in the side review in trying to reduce duplicates. I apologize for the duplicate.
So far on my read it has not explicitly said anything about the actual routing. Only by in logical inference. i will continue my question there and consider this thread dead.
you can easily verify for yourself, create a brand new test plex account, log into any of the supported clients, do not join or create a server, then access any of the plex provided media (podcasts/news/webshows/movies/tv).
It will become very apparent that no local server is required or used.
