The same applies to the Fire TV Cube Generation 3. Strangely, Kodi plays everything including framerate switching. Under Kodi, DTS HD and DTS losless are no problem. It seems to be a Plex problem.

Just checked the Amazon developer page again and now it does say
- Dolby TrueHD (Atmos) passthrough
- DTS passthrough
- DTS-HD passthrough (basic profile)
Are there any news? I hope it works so I don’t need to buy a shield.

Hey you guys fixed this issue a few updates ago now on the latest plex app for firestick 4k gen 3 10.2.0.4488 dts isn’t playing sound again. I’m not talking about the 4k max gen 2 version that just came out. It’s working perfectly still. The problem is the new firestick 4K model that just came out that dts isn’t working It’s broke again just on that model.
It appears that on the newest FireStick 4K Max, on stable it plays DTS, but on the beta release it no longer works.
Yes 4K max gen 2 stable works fine. I’m talking about the 2023 regular 4K model dts no longer produces sound on stable version.
Are you referring to the AFTKM model? The newer non-Max version?
Confirming the fix was not included for the non-Max model. The fix should hopefully be included in 10.3.0. I will update here once it is added.
Sorry for late reply. It’s not working on the AFTKM model. Its working fine on the AFTKRT model.

The fix was committed a few hours ago so it should hopefully be in the next beta build (I will confirm the version once its available). Once it’s in can I ask that you let me know that it’s working, we currently don’t have any AFTKM devices to confirm.
Looks like unfortunately, the fix missed the cut-off for the release of 10.3 so will only be in 10.4. However, here is a link to a build the fix is in. You can give the build a try or wait a week until 10.4 beta releases. Note: The link will expire in 48 hours.
Does this also fix DTS being broken in the beta release for the new 4k max stick?
This is only for the non-Max version but the Max was fixed in 10.1 and we tested it again to make sure and DTS is working as expected on the Max (AFTKRT). Are you still experiencing issues?
The newest beta (10.3.0.4685) does not work on the Firestick 4K Max (2nd Gen) nor the newest firecube. If I downgrade to stable, it works. So something in the new beta broke it.
What exactly are you experiencing on the 4K Max 2nd gen? We tested DTS on that device and it was working as expected so could you please include android logs for us to see why you bare having issues.
It will just output pcm, I will need to capture logs tonight but when I posted in reddit a few weeks ago, several people went from stable(working) to the beta and also experienced DTS not working. I will look into if its actually transcoding or not tonight and ill capture logs.
So on 10.3.0.4685, it forces a transcode to OPUS from DTS. No matter what setting I change. Here is the log.

The reason it is transcoding according to your logs is because VC-1 is not direct playable on that device. Could you try with a different format?
