I have a dedicated Media PC upon witch I have just loaded Win-10 and kept updating until Windows Updater could not find anything else. I have downloaded Plex Media Server to this machine with only a hitch at Smart Screen Defender which gave me a warning and allowed me to continue with the install. The Media Server took my login to Plex. Gave me no setup screen and gave me no option to identify any video sources. I have 2 TBs of movies which ran fine on Win-7 Plex. I then downloaded Plex Player and had no problems.
When the Plex Player is launched a streaming service is displayed (what’s that for) and when I select More: and go to My Media the following is displayed
Add your videos ;;;
Download Plex Media Server
There are no navigation buttons here. I obviously just downloaded the Media Server. I have tried doing just what it suggests, and re-downloading the Server. Same result - got the screen which tells me to download Plex Media Server. I tried uninstalling all Plex and deleting any old files the were used by previous versions of Plex. Re-installed and … same result.
Is something preventing the Player from finding the Server? Is the Server, which appears to be running, not advertising it’s self to the network? I can not see the Server on other PC’s on the network.
Please don’t take this the wrong way but I’m sure that I am not the only one with this problem. I am also confident that someone on this forum has already addressed this. I did my best to search this forum for answers and ran several search filters through your forum search and found nothing about install issues. You have no categories
that I could find on install, maybe you should.
What do I do to get the Player to see the server? Is this even really the issue?
