In the recent Preview for Roku app, a “More Ways to Watch” row was added to the GUI but there’s two things about it that throw me off.
Inconsistent Display - fixed EDIT: Temporary fix
Showing even though I have all discovery\online services disabled.
So for the first, shortly after getting the update, when I’d go to a show, the hub\row for “More Ways to Watch” was in different places for different shows.
That happened on one of my Roku TVs and one of my Roku Ultra boxes (other Roku devices were fine). It threw me off and it didn’t clear up until after I pulled the power on the devices having the problem (rebooting didn’t clear it but that’s not uncommon with Roku). Just wanted to mention that in case others ran across it.
The second thing is that I don’t think it’s supposed to show up at all. I don’t have any online services connected and have all Online Media Services disabled under my account so even if it’s showing, it’ll always be empty anyways. On Plex Web (hosted or plex.tv) and on iOS devices I don’t see that row\hub at all and would like my Roku to treat it the same way if possible because it’s much cleaner GUI that way.
Let me know if I can provide any other details that’ll help.
Issue #1 was only temporarily fixed by a reboot. It came back.
Maybe something about the way the row loads in the GUI is loading wrong and once it loads wrong it gets cached wrong from then on. Rebooting can clear it up on a show when it happens but it continues to happen.
Edit: Did a test using the Exit command in Plex app. I almost never use that so forgot about testing it (tend to go right to the power plug pull). That fixes it too.
So, rebooting from system menu doesn’t clear it up if it happens on a show, but power cable pull or Plex app “Exit” will. Hope this helps. If logs will help let me know and I can grab them.
Oh… and I’d still like it to be gone entirely with Online Media sources being disabled please.
Edit2: Just had a show that had the “more ways to watch” in the right place (below extras) then have it in the wrong place (above season) after navigating to a different show and coming back to this one. That’s the first time I’ve seen it switch locations in the GUI like that - previously testing\checking it always stayed in the same place.
Just a bump during the week instead of the weekend.
My other recent bug reports got no notice but I hoped a post about a feature added to the recent Preview release would warrant an acknowledgement; that’s the point of Preview releases right? Being a bit snarky because I’m a little frustrated is all, please don’t mind it too much.
Edit: and this new feature was just pushed to official Roku channel as is even after reporting a recurring experience with a UI bug related to that new feature. I thought at least a bug report on a beta test release would get attention even if other things didn’t… dunno why I’m disappointed when Plex does exactly as they’ve been doing after their new direction in recent years. Dunno why I even mention it since it won’t make a difference other than to make me feel better to express it for myself.
