I have updated my Thecus NAS many times over the past 5 years. In the past, I never had an option on what file to chose, it just said update available, click here to download. This time when selecting download, I was sent to a this page to select my server https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/
there were 9 brands of servers listed Thecus wasn’t one of them.
Does anyone if Thecus is still supported and if so what file should I chose?
thanks, Conrad
Thecus is currently not supported due to their lack of updates to their host OS. The current Plex version requires a few newer libraries than what Thecus OS currently has. There is another thread that covers this- it’s about 6-9 months old. Thecus has not responded to multiple requests to update their OS to include the newer libraries.
I am in the same boat. the download site says to use a operating system that is close to the Thecus system that it uses but i cannot find one. Any suggestions?
Unfortunately no. My N7770-10G is stuck on the last working version and I’ve since moved away from using it as my primary Plex server- One of my NUCs now has that role. Personally given how Thecus is doing things today I would not be a bit surprised if there are no further updates to their older NAS hardware (Even though I bought the N7770-10G less than a year ago.) They consider it and a lot of their other NAS hardware as “legacy”. (i.e. no updates beyond certification of newer hard drives)
