Unable to download the new version, when you go to the general page and click

Looks like they removed support or at least listings for Thecus. I’ve searched for more detail with no luck.

Found the following. Implies Thecus is working on a firmware update, but I don’t know if it will be for all of there legacy devices.

Thank you for the information, will try to be patient, and wait.

I found the same here with my N8850. Plex says there is an update yet brings me to the download page with no thecus option in the list as a plex pass owner… I did update thecus NAS firmware to V2.06.03.1. Just last week. And the current version of plex 1.14.1.5488 seems to be fine, yet an update notice is there with no direct download option as in the past.
Thanks!

Please see the link above to Reddit, it seems Thecus is working on an update, so for now we have to wait.

I opened a ticket with Thecus today (ticket # AEI-805-67485). Their response was “Current we have no final date for this update yet, but we will make this ticket and reply to you since schedule confirmed, and thanks for your understanding in advance.”

I suggest everyone on this thread that is interested in getting an update contact them so they know that Thecus owners are interested (increase the priority). Open a ticket via this link (https available but it’s an unsigned certificate):

I’m also cross-posting the exact text from Plex’s release notes which you can quote to Thecus support:

On the Plex forum release notes post from Feb 6 2019 they say “Thecus Builds for Thecus devices will not be available at this time. Thecus is working on a firmware update that allows the new PMS to run on their devices.”

Could you please provide a link for the last Stable build of Thecus x64 - I had to reinstall on my NAS and only found v1.1.4 from 2016 on the Official Thecus Apps page. Plex on my ROKU says that this version is too old so it won’t load. I just need something recent to get it back up and running again.

Thanks,

You’re in luck! I still had v1.14.1.5488 (last build Thecus NASs can install) in my recycle bin. I’m not guaranteeing this link though. I’ll try to keep it online until Thecus allows us to install future Plex builds.

(edit 29May2019: deleted - Thecus is hosting a link to the latest workable Plex versions:

Thanks for this - have installed successfully and it’s back up and running again

Bad news I’m afraid. Thecus update is “no confirmed schedule” and a link to the latest workable Plex versions:

I’m making plans to move my plex server to an alternate platform.

Update for paid users of Plex. If you’ve paid for Plex, you’re likely using a “Premium Music Library”. As per general announcement issued yesterday: " Starting July 1, Plex Media Server version 1.15.8 or higher will be required to continue to add music to Premium music libraries." That means, Thecus users using a “Premium Music Library” will not be able to add music anymore. I guess the workaround would be to convert your music library to a “regular music library” which presumably would require rebuilding of any playlists. I’ve asked Thecus for an update.

Full announcement:

Update from Thecus: “We been report this request internally and asking update regularly, but support new Plex have to update OS deeply almost a new one will be a huge job, thus we still push our develop team for new Plex version support as possible,”

Follwing…

I do hope they release a new version we we can upgrade our Plex servers.
