New player on android tv not working

I hope not since it’s ■■■■■■■ ■■■■, I have tried using this player since it was released and it has work for maybe 1 movie sometime. But at the end when I start a movie or whatever the player just working and trying to load the movies.
Such a good player I mean really, and yes I have tried everything I have even reinstalled my PMS. And when I change to the old player it works with ZERO issues, but still the subtitles are out of sync even if they are in sync. :slight_smile: Im paid a 1 year plexpass for almost a year ago now and I have almost stopped watching movies because they never trying to do anything to fix this BIG ISSUES…

Reinstalling PMS will not help, pulling (client) logs and posting them here might help.

The Mi Box S just received an update, maybe worth trying that.

We have successfully used the new player on MiBox S for quite a while - However I updated the MiBox with the update 2 days ago and that broke the new player. I could only get Plex working with the old player. The error I recieved is the one stated above.

If anyone working with Plex needs any logs - let me know and I will try and provide them.
Can´t go back in Android verrsion tho unfortunately.

It’s actually the other way around😁. The Plex update from about a week ago killed the new video player on 9.0. Two options are backdate the Plex software one version and you can use the new video player or disable the new video player under settings and advanced in the Mi box Plex application.

As that might be true, the new player still worked despite the Plex-update a week ago until the new Mibox S was updated. Why? I have no idea… But yes, the temporary solution is to use the old player accessable under settings / advanced - just as JasonsPlex said.

I agree for some reason it did flare up when the 9.0 second public update came out. But backdating for me worked:). Hopefully gets fixed soon. I sent logs but they said they didn’t see anything.

Hi I have the same problem as almost anybody ells. When i disable the new player everything works, but some times the player activates it self without I am doing anything. Very irritating. Just bought Plex Pass in the Hope that I could use Plex some more but it doenst work.

Hey Plex, Whats going on with this? New player that keeps defaulting but doesnt work on Android TV? Either give us the option to stop the default or fix the player. This is getting a bit ridiculous

Just got bit by this again. Family member complains they cannot stream. I look through all the logs, have them log out and back in, and then finally I remember it’s a FireTV. Turned the new player off, and it worked. Sigh…

Within the Plex app, under settings, is a setting for the New player.

Would you elaborate a little how to backdate the versions to the previous one?

You have to either put the file on a thumb drive or put a web browser on the mibox and download the file from plex’s website. Then you uninstall Plex and install from the file. I think you have to go about three or four versions back now. Honestly disabling the new video players easier for now until they come out with a fix.

Unfortunately the old player can’t play HD video with subtitles.

I have found another workaround - I use the plex plug in for Kodi - it works flawlessly at all resolutions and subtitles.

I can’t understand how Plex manages to break its official Android TV app, but a third party plugin works just fine…

Shame really.

I’m having the exact same issue on my MiBox S, it’s unrelated to PMS install version since I have a different server with a considerably older version of PMS on it and it won’t play off that server with the new video player.

Couldn’t understand why it didn’t want to work for my wife today and realized it must have updated and defaulted back to the new player.

So even in the latest Android TV app update the new player is still broken.

I wonder if the ‘old’ player even supports the fancy new ‘skip intro’ feature?

Can confirm the skip intro doesnt work on the old player. WTF plex, how is this an issue still!!!

I’m having similar issues in my Android TV (7.0) the video loads, perfectly in the Plex Web, however in the Android TV client, it keeps loading…

Strangely in my Mi Box it’s working normally, i’ve tried several times to factory reset the TV, wipe the storage from the App, similar results.
