Same thing happened to me. Luckily, I got the message that Windows couldn’t reboot until a program had finished, and that program was the Plex installer so it almost saved itself. Of course, it still closed all of my programs and such before I could hit “Cancel.” I agree that it seems to be the vc_redist64 installation (with “/install /quiet”) that is doing it, as I was also watching the detailed install.
Rebooted without prompting:
The process C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex\vc_redist.x64.exe (XPS_13) has initiated the restart of computer
Thank god I didn’t uninstall the old Store app, this one’s unusable with this scaling mess…
The Visual C++ SDK redist causing an automatic restart was lame. It was a troublesome behavior to catch in action for us, although you folks unfortunately lucked right into it.
We’ve pushed out v1.1 which corrects this bit of nonsense.
I’m sad to report this is still a thing. I took the PMP update 2.45.0.1028 today and some time after the update and using the app, my PC shut down with no warning. Not restarted; SHUT DOWN. Logs show Plex initiated the shutdown.
The process C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Player\PlexMediaPlayer.exe (NAME) has initiated the power off of computer NAME on behalf of user DOMAIN\user for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
Reason Code: 0x80040000
Shutdown Type: power off

Nothing? This happened again today.
This is a thread about the Plex app for Windows/Mac desktop; you’re having issues with the (older) Plex Media Player.
You’ll need to go here: https://forums.plex.tv/c/plex-players/computers, create a new thread, and tag it with plex-media-player.
