New Plex app interface

Since the new app upgrade, I cannot get pass “server update required” install now. Follow the prompts, then it just keeps asking again and again. Same on my PC which hosts the server, it takes ages to install the server update.

Previously, my Google app would install the server quickly, instantly, now it doesn’t even work

I have tried reinstalling the app, wiping cache and data, sign in and out. Nothing works.

Help!!

Which Plex Media Server version is installed?

Try downloading and installing the server update manually.
https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=computer&plat=windows

Windows version is 4.133.0

Which is now saying everything is up to date

Google TV is stuck on not sure but it insists it needs 1.41.2 or newer yet it will not update it for me.

It’s driving me crazy. I’m looking to alternate options now. All I want to do is stream a few movies from my computer hard drive ffs

This is the version number of the web app, not of the server.
But since it is also very old (July 2024), I assume your server is similarly outdated.
Yes, it looks like you are stuck at PMS 1.40.5.8921

Yes you are right so I downloaded the latest server from the website and installed and for a fleeting moment, thought all was fixed. My Google TV plex app suddenly linked to the server and everything “looked” pefect till we went to watch a movie and then it asked us to sign up for PLex Pass to watch remotely. When I checked the connection in the plex app, it said “relay connection”. I have no switched that off in the web settings, but now it cannot link to my server at all from the TV.

Not sure what to do now. It was never this hard previously. Thanks for you advice

Is your Google TV device on a different subnet than your server? That would make your server think the client is remote. What is the IP address of your Google device and what is the IP address of your Plex server?

Google TV is 192.168.0.233
Plex server is private 192.168.0.136 : 32400 Public 101.173.128.178 : 14959

Look at the properties of the network connection in Windows.
It must read “private”, and not “public”.
