New Plex App is hijacking media controls

Server Version#: 1.16.4.1469
Player Version#: 1.1.0

Problem: The new app is hijacking media controls regardless whether the app is in focus or not.

How to reproduce:
Open the new Plex App on monitor 1. Now open the Spotify app on monitor 2. When interacting with the Spotify app, a press on the Play button (mouse/keyboard) should resume the currently stopped Spotify music however it does nothing. Only when the new Plex app is closed one can use the Play/Pause/Skip buttons for Spotify again.

@deactivated, I just saw that answer earlier, however consider this:

I currently have something playing in the Plex app. Now I’m pausing it because I want to take a little break. Now I bring Spotify in focus on the other monitor. If I understand “Do not claim media keys when nothing is being played” correctly when I now press on Play/Pause button it would then resume the media paused in Plex instead of Spotify (which is in focus). See what I’m getting at?

I do see what you’re getting at. It’s an interesting dilemma. For instance, we cannot bind media key claiming to Plex purely on focus tate. This would prevent Plex from changing tracks in the background.

But, with video playback in mind, pressing the Play media key when video is paused in the background is an interesting use case in itself. I can see arguments on both the “it should do nothing” and the “it should resume playback” camps.

Thinking through it, claiming media keys when media is playing is the simplest scenario to conceptualize and explain.
