I just recently removed and older plex server and I am trying to add a newer one to replace it. Details are:
I will call the machines Plex1 which is the original one, which is staying and Plex2 which is the new one I am trying to add.
Plex1 is a MacOS machine running 12.6
Plex2 is a MacOS machine running 13.6 and is replacing an older
Machine which was also running 13.6.
Both machines have their OWN storage and share no content.
The issue is as follows:
I removed the older Plex2 machine and installed the new Plex2 machine and
Installed the Plex Web Server software on it. I configured it.
I have done this in the past with a new machine with minimal headache. You add the second machine, you get it setup and login and it is known to the network and authorized. If you run the plex app both machines are seen on the Home sidebar, one is the primary at the top and one is usually somewhere below it under a scroll bar tab.
In this case, with both machines logged in I get a completely different result. When I login to Plex1 (Original) I see that Plex 1 is the only authorized machine and Is the only machine listed on the home sidebar with my media listed.
If I login to Plex2, I see that Plex2 is the only machine authorized and I see all
The media from Plex2 displayed in the home sidebar.
They are both logged in as the same account.
The one issue I noticed was that the first time I setup the new Plex2 machine it
had path to Plex1’s disk instead of its own, even though they were attached. It could NOT access Plex1’s disks. I manually changed them to point to the Plex2 media and it accesses the media fine.
So when accessing Plex1 I see Plex1 authorized and Plex1s data with no visibility of Plex2 at all. When I access Plex2 I see Plex2 authorized and no visibility of Plex1 at all.
While this has been pretty straightforward in the past, it seems I have hit a snag this time.
Any ideas on what could be going on?
