I am so annoyed. From the beginning, it has been an issue for me to make Plex’ remote access work at all. Some time ago, I finally somehow managed to make it work and now this: All I did was buy a new laptop and install Plex on it. Plex added the new computer as a new server and woosh: no more access – at all: no remote access and no access via ethernet anymore. Yes, it is connected to a cable and I can’t access it anymore from my main computer. How is that even possible? All I did was installing Plex on a new computer. I didn’t touch my main computer, I didn’t change any settings: nothing. But I can’t access my WD MyCloudPR4100 via Plex anymore. I have a lifetime pass for quite some time already, but Plex actually never worked smoothly for me; especially when I need it when I spend months in another country. It is so frustrating. Any idea what broke my whole setting by just installing Plex on a freaking new notebook? Thanks in advance.
Hi, thanks for your quick response. I’m about to go to bed, so please forgive me if I don’t react for some hours after this message.
Yes, the server from my NAS and the server from my main computer’s HDDs are listed there. The new server from my new notebook is not listed there as I deleted Plex from that machine again (I’ll send the notebook back and get a new one; for reasons not related to my Plex issue).
It says:

Plex Media Server
MyCloudPR4100
Linux 5.28.105
If you know the nas is active then and it shows up there then this is likely some sort of networking issue. Like the new server using the same port for example. Not saying that is the issue at all just an example of something that can cause weirdness.
How would I solve such a networking issue? As mentioned, I deinstalled Plex on the notebook again and also deleted the newly established server on it. Means: All settings are just like they were before I installed Plex on the notebook. So if this is the issue, shouldn’t it be good again?
Ha! It works again… using the simplest trick of all and making me feel ashamed of myself: I rebooted the NAS which I obviously had just forgotten to do in the first place and as the first thing that should have done. Let’s hope it’s running stable again and sorry for being a jerk.
