"Not Authorized" Error - Old Plex Server Replaced

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8

Hello, I need some help figuring out how to get Plex working again. Long story short, I had a major issue with my previous setup and had to wipe it out. It’s completely gone, but I had my media backed up so after setting up a fresh system I’m ready for Plex again. The original Plex server was running on Linux; the new one is on Windows. It’s using the same hardware; There is nothing left of the original OS installation, it was all completely wiped.

I installed Plex Media Server after a fresh Windows 10 install and opened it. I’m logged into my account via browser. On first opening I got an “initializing” message followed by “something went wrong” and if I close/re-open I get “not authorized” after selecting my profile. Mine is the admin, my wife has her own which will open fine but is only a managed account so can’t add the new libraries from there. When I log in from the web page to manage my account, pressing “+ Your Media” from the home page asks me to install the media server software.

I followed the support page’s recommendation of removing certain registry entries but this didn’t change anything. I also tried removing the old server and web logins from the authorized devices page, which didn’t change anything. I changed my password, still no dice. I also uninstalled the media server software, rebooted the PC, and reinstalled it, no change at all. I completely wiped the install and registry entries, nope. After hours of messing around with it and nothing else working, I completely deleted my Plex account and started a new one; STILL the same issue.

This leads me to believe there is something else via my network preventing this from working, but I don’t recall making any network adjustments to get Plex working to begin with and upon reviewing my router’s settings I couldn’t find any evidence of this.

I hope bumps are allowed. This is still happening.

Likely need to see your server logs. Looking at you account it appears like the server cannot detect it’s own network interface for some reason because there is no local address being returned.

Is there anything not standard about your network? On a VPN, using proxies, or anything similar? What ISP do you have? (some just have crappy “internet security” that screws things up. One of the first things I would do if you have not is the use either Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS instead of your ISPs.

Bump again! Stuck here too, guide is useless and doesn’t help

Pretty much same problem for me
Plex server was running perfectly. Suddenly it stopped working, it says new version available, when the version I have is the most updated yet, and even paid for a month of plex pass to use a beta update, still not working
Server only working on local network.
Can’t claim server, can’t remote access it. Not authorized. I’m using a raspberry pi.
