New Plex remote iPhone app

I have a little problem with Controllr:

If I have a TV-show split on two Hard-Drives, the show is twice in the Controllr.app. But in Plex its correct: there is it only once.

I am still working on the next update of Controllr. My focus is on Plex 9 compatibility, so I will ensure the issues brought up here are addressed, specifically iTunes support, and multiple drive spanning.

Why when you have a lot movies files only read about 100 and dont show the other ones?

As others have noted, any chance for supporting iPhone fw 3.1.2 as well? I've bought the app, but haven't received the updates since I don't run 3.1.3 on my phone.

Well mate if your like me and you have to stay on 3.12 for a sim card unlock , Bigboss has a firmware spoofer on the cydia store free that toggles showing as 3.12.and 3.13 to itunes and all apps . controllr runs fine on my 3.12(3) =P

This is the first app I bought (since I don’t posses an ipad/iphone/ipod touch and wanted to test it). My ITunes account says, that I have payed for Controllr v1.0 (did this on an ipod touch), but when browsing to the app via Itunes I can only buy but not download it.

Could someone explain this please?

2. Controllr does store the media art on your phone so they load faster on subsequent loads. You cannot, however, browse the library if you cannot reach Plex.

Whoa? It certainly does not, for me at least. Every time I load it up it has to re download all art, and takes forever. I was pretty excited about this app, having tried others with the same issue; but unfortunately without caching it's just not useful, at all...

Has anyone tried HD Remote for iPad? - just released to the store a few days ago, it looks promising. I'm on the fence about spending more money on yet another app that promises a lot but doesn't deliver for XBMC/Plex...

Can’t figure out why i can’t get this to work, shouldn’t be needed to add a port forward to the plex machine when accessing from inside the network?



i get the host can’t be reached error message, have tried restarting the machine

Very cool app, purchased it for my home entertainment systems. I have nearly 800 movies in my collection and many TV Shows. My only suggestion at this point is to offer some sort of cacheing for fanart. I wouldn’t mind having to initially scroll through all of my movies for it to grab all the album art. The slight annoyance I have is that when I quit the app, I have to re-load all of the fanart for the movies and TV Shows. Any possibility or thoughts on keeping this locally on the iDevice?

The next update will fix the image caching as well as work with Plex 9 and support the retina display of the iPhone 4.

would it be possible to launch Plex from this app when Plex is not running? After all, the webserver IS running? Would be great since now I have to manually start Plex for Controllr to work… which kinda sucks.

Hi,
the app is really great, looks fantastic and is going to fullfill my remote dreams :), but not yet. I didn't find a way to quit a movie through the touchpad function (long menu press on the apple remote) and though the movie covers do show up, they tend to disappear when i scroll up (The first time i scroll down, they are all there, but when i scroll up most covers above that point(furthest point have disappeared and won't be displayed until i restart the app.

I wanted to create just such a remote, but fortunatly stumbled on your app and bought it. If you didn't need the money and had already been paid your expenses i'd love the remote to be open source :)
I am absolutly new to Cocoa and had major problems just in the beginning e.g. with the combination of tab bar and Table View. The whole idea behind the remote is so easy (Webserver API + the not so easy Cocoa coding) that i don't get why nobody else with sufficient coding skills made a remote with library support for plex.
Im looking forward to an update which is going to add Itunes Library compatibility, and hope your app will still work after the major upcoming plex update :)

@tommy try to open with safari: http://yourip:3000 and start a movie with that interface, if that works i don't know the reason but otherwise you might have to reinstall plex

Back to my problem. I can see all the movies using the other interface but i cant play the movie from it. In controllr when i press the play button nothing happens. I have tried to download HD Remote and here i have the same problem. I can see all my movies but i cant start them.

Seems like your library is out of sync. This could happen if your data was moved to another drive. Try going into the settings menu in Plex, go to Video, Library, then Clean Library...

See if that helps. If not, we can dig into your database file.

Just curious.

The Plex iOS app is great as it allows streaming of all of your media. Controllr is better suited for controlling Plex from your sofa, and quickly navigating your media. There are more playback controls, such as a scrubber and volume control. Also, Controllr works with Plex 0.8 if you are still prefer it.

Personally, I use both apps, Controllr on the sofa and Plex for streaming.

turbolag, do you mind explaining what my problem may be?



i can see all my movies, tv shows, and music on my iphone but when i try to play any of them, I get a blank screen on the phone and nothing running in plex. I am using plex .9 and the latest version of controllr. When i play a movie in plex, i can see the movie thumb in the now playing screen on my iphone and can control it by fast forwarding/pause/rewinding/etc. i saw that another user had that problem as well and you recommended to “Try going into the settings menu in Plex, go to Video, Library, then Clean Library…” Can you do this in plex .9? I couldn’t find that option.



Any help would be great…thanks!

Old(ish) post, but is this app still being maintained? It doesn’t seem to jive with the latest version. I can scroll through my media on it, and control Plex itself, but movies do not play - it just sits at Opening Stream.
