The 1.22 update fixes the cached pictures and gestures problems…
I figured it out, but I don't like the solution right now - my firewall was set to "Set access for specific services and applications" - this is on Leopard 10.5.8. Even though both Plex.app and Plex Media Server are added and listed with "Allow incoming connections," it was not accepting it. When I flick the switch to "Allow all incoming connections" it connects immediately. Is there another app or service that should be allowed to make this work without having the floodgate open?
I'm not sure if that's a Plex problem, Controllr problem, or a Leopard problem. Maybe Snow Leopard would fix it.
For the record, that URL did not connect, which led me to believe that it must have been a firewall problem. The URL did connect once I switched the permission type. I really don't like leaving the firewall wide open though. Even though I don't have any sensitive info on that computer, I like my networks on lockdown as often as possible.
but is only for OS 3.1.3 :(
why not 3.1.2?
The 1.22 update has resolved my gesture control issues, thank you for that.
I am using the app on iPad and have had the app exit on me, is anyone experiencing this? Is there anything I can do to debug the issue?
besides this issue I am enjoying the app and look for award to iPad/0.9 support
As others have noted, any chance for supporting iPhone fw 3.1.2 as well? I’ve bought the app, but haven’t received the updates since I don’t run 3.1.3 on my phone.
Also on OS4 Beta 4 the 1.22 update is crashing frequently…
no i cannot reach this url from mobile safari. and i don't have a firewall running. only timecapsule. how do i see on what port my mac is running?
now in the updated version i can see my mac mini under bonjour clients. but when i select it the same error appears: “Plex not rachable. Host could not be reached at MacMini.local”
I purchased the app. Thank you turbolag for making this. It is great, but still needs some work.
A few questions:
- Does this work on Edge/3G? If so, how?
- Is there a way for the movie/TV posters and metadata to be stored on my iPhone for faster load times? Not actually storing the movie file, just showing the poster/info in the beautiful Plex display style.
- To take it a step further, would it be possible to have this data sync over WiFi/Edge/3G? When the app opens, when I tell it to or whenever changes are made in Plex.
Also, it would be really cool to make this open source(faster development cycles) and have the proceeds go to a charity or start a Plex nonprofit to manage the monies. Just a thought.
wow this looks nice
Hi
I just purchased the app, but I cannot make it work properly.
I can connect to Plex and browse through my library, but if I want to play a video it doesn’t work. It shows “Now Playing” but the movie does not play. The “Remote” mode works but this is not useful for me as my apple remote can do the same thing.
As well, the App crash after running for a few minutes
I am using an iTouch v1 with OS 3.1.3 and controllr v1.22
I would appreciate any help
Edit: Sorry, I just saw that someone posted the same bug on page 7 of this topic. I hope this can be solved quickly as this App is useless to me at the moment (and my money wasted
)
Is turbolag still reading this thread or updating the app? Maybe an update for iOS?
He's living in the Bahamas now, thanks to us...no need to update the app anymore...
That's a bit rough, considering it was last updated within a couple weeks ago... 1 June.
People should keep posting ideas and bug reports, it can't hurt.
I would be *really* surprised if he has sold more than 1000 copies of the app. If he has sold 1000 copies, he has made just under $2100 pretax. That is not a huge amount of money... especially if he has a family. But if he is not going to continue updating it, we should make our own open source version and make it free in the app store.
Unfortunately, I am far north of the Bahamas, diligently working on the next update to Controllr (when I can). I would like to coincide the next release with the introduction of iOS 4.0 and Plex 0.9. There are some new features that will leverage both updates nicely.
1. It will work over 3G/edge if you forward port 3000 on your router to the IP of the machine running Plex.
2. Controllr does store the media art on your phone so they load faster on subsequent loads. You cannot, however, browse the library if you cannot reach Plex.
3. If you perform step 1, you should be able to browse your library over 3G/Edge
Heres a pic of the new theme:
Will the new version allow you to sort by date items have been added to the library or 25 most recent ?
Will that include an iPad version ??? :-)
I got to be honest, I'm no longer interested in running controllr on the iPhone now we always have an iPad on the coffee table.
In fact whilst patiently waiting for Controllr HD, I'm back to using the old XBMControl in 2x on the iPad!
It's not pretty with huge green pixelated buttons, but its fast and functional.
I'm not moaning about buying Controllr for the iPhone, but I've actually only used it a few times since purchasing it a few months ago!
Even before the iPad, the wife just finds it easier to use the very basic XBMControl and I tend to agree with her!
As nice as Controllr is, people only tend to want to use a remote for a short a period as possible, its like a means to an end and I think long lasting success for a remote app needs to address that fundamental rule.
Hope this feedback helps, its intended to be constructive criticism.
:-)
@turbolag - I purchased your app and really like it in general but I am really missing the music/iTunes capability. Music in library mode is not supported in Plex anymore since 7.5 (or even earlier ...) and I do not want to add and scrape essentially the same music just to see it with Controllr.
Any ideas when the update you mention above will be available?
Thanks in advance.
