I’ve used Plex successfully before on other systems, but having trouble getting it to work on a new Ubuntu system (installed on an iMac).
It’s generally working fine, will play videos supplied by Plex (trailers etc)
I can’t scan in my own files though. I have this folder structure for testing:
~/Videos/TV Shows/Homicide/Season 01/Homicide - s01e01.m4v
(This file was ripped with Handbrake and I have libdvdcss2 installed and working (afaik) – I’ve tested and I can play this file with VLC, fwiw… it won’t play with the native Ubuntu Videos app, which is interesting)
I go to add a library, specify TV Shows, browse for media folder, select ~/Videos/TV Shows and add it. I get the spinning indicator on the top bar that there’s activity, that stops, but it still says “0 libraries”
If I go to Home, in the sidebar there is now an entry for “TV Shows” but if I go into it, the screen says “Not found - We’re having trouble finding this page. It might have been deleted.”
But the episode has been added to the Plex home page, under “Recently added in T Shows”, with the cover image!
But… if I try to play it… I get “Playback error - An error occurred loading items to play”
I downloaded the Plex logs, I don’t see anything obvious but I don’t really know what I’m looking for. For good measure the last time I tried it, I changed permissions on that whole folder tree to ugo+rwx, but that didn’t seem to help at all.
Suggestions? Any help greatly appreciated!
