Hello, I’m not sure if it is on purpose or not, but the new Plex TV agent is by default selecting the episode artwork from the embedded artwork (for MP4 files), while previously it would favor the separate file if existing, before using the embedded artwork. This is when Use local assets is enabled.
To give more context, all my TV shows file are tagged with the same convention as iTunes is using. It means that instead of embedding the actual episode artwork, it is the season artwork that is embedded in the file. To make them work nicely with Plex too, I added the episode artwork as a separate .jpg file next to the episode (as recommended here Local Media Assets - TV Shows | Plex Support). With the legacy agent, it was working great. I had the proper artwork for the episodes, but with the new agent, I now get the embedded artwork by default. I can see that Plex still loads the separate .jpg, but it doesn’t pick it by default.
Maybe you won’t want to change the behaviour on the new TV agent to match the legacy one, but I can’t see myself modifying the artwork of thousands of episodes, so if there is no fixes, could it be an advanced option?
