New Plex TV Series Scanner fails to discern the "Season 00" folder

Server Version#: 1.22.0.4163

I have a lot of Animes that contains so-called “OVA” “Specials” “Season 00” and it looks like this:

/Attack on Titan
/Season 00
OVA 01.mkv
OVA 02.mkv
/Season 01
E01.mkv
/Season 02
E01.mkv

The old Scanner recognizes “Season 00” as the “Specials”

But after I recreated a new Library with this “Plex TV Series (BETA)” agent, the “Season 00” can no longer be detected but only leaves “Season 1” “Season 2” on the page.

I wonder is there any special way to name the folder with this new Scanner working, so my “Specials” can be back.

By the way, really like the new design and looking forward to seeing it working.

Try naming your show as follows:

/Attack on Titan
  /Season 00
     Attack on Titan - s00e01.mkv
     Attack on Titan - s00e02.mkv
  /Season 01
     Attack on Titan - s01e01.mkv
  /Season 02
     Attack on Titan - s02e01.mkv

No ■■■■!! It works!!! Thanks!!

Updated to:

  /Season 00
     s00e01.mkv
     s00e02.mkv
  /Season 01
     s01e01.mkv
  /Season 02
     s02e01.mkv

But somehow the new scanner lost the flexibility to name your series files and now I need to rename hundreds of my animation files.

This works before but not after I changed to the new scanner…

/Attack on Titan
 /Season 00
   OVA 01.mkv
   OVA 02.mkv
 /Season 01
   E01.mkv
 /Season 02
   E01.mkv

Are these files DVR’d? Plex does not and never has renamed media files (of course it names the files it DVRs)…

If you have a lot of files to rename, try Filebot.

No, those are just the regular movie files with original name which I downloaded from the internet…
They are usually named with
[1080p] [x265] and so on, so it can names anything, for example:

[Kamigami] Attack on Titan S2 - 02 [BD 1080p x265 FLAC].mkv

And the old scanner managed to recognize them all without me changing the file names.

And I really like to keep the “info” in the file names since some point I always redownload them with a better version so I know where to compare.

It’s OK to keep extra info inside square brackets as Plex will ignore that so, for example

Show name - s01e02 - title.mkv
And
Show name [extra info] - s01e02 - titled [more extra info].mkv

…are the same to Plex.

OK… Looks like I have to use name

[xxxxx]OVA s00e01.mkv

to able to let new scanner identify it as “Specials”

This works with old scanners but not the new one:

[xxxxx]OVA 01.mkv

Strange new rules…

No new rules at all… it seems you just got lucky in the past when deviating from the official naming schema.

The general recommendation stands:
Go with the official naming schema to avoid this kind of hiccups.

I see…

Still strange that I can use names like “xxx - 01.mkv” in the folder “Season 01” and “Season 02” but I can not use names “ova - 01.mkv” in the “Season 00” without “s00e##”.

Thanks for the point out.

I’ll add a test case for this today and see if I can make it work like it used to.

Thanks for the report.

That’s great news, thank you!
