New .plexmatch option

I detest the idea of having a folder for every movie media file, since I have no extras or anything, that makes a single folder fir a single file. That’s nonsense. If I need to use a .plexmatch file (more and more often, since the matchers seem to be getting more and more stupid – probably “AI” [aka “Artificial Incompetence”] enhanced) I’m required to create the folder and put the movie file in it in order to associate the .plexmatch file with the movie.

My suggestion is to allow a second file that shares the movie file’s name, but with the .plexmatch extension. This seems to be a total no-brainer, and would allow me (and others) to avoid the necessity of folders for every individual movie file. Also, it is clear and easy to understand.

Please?

Or you simply include a matching hint in your movie file name, e.g.

Movie <- your single folder library folder
  Star Wars (1978) {tmdb-11}.ext
The Empire Strikes Back (1980) {imdb-tt0080684}.ext
Return of the Jedi (1983) {tmdb-1892}.ext

Thanks @tom80H! Those hints are something new since the last time I read through that article. They will definitely be handy.

You don’t have to. It just improves performance of other tasks if you do. The scanner will be fine looking in the same folder for all your movies.
