I want to buy a new NAS and want to make sure I buy one that can do multiple 4k transcoding. Since I already own a QNAP NAS, I just want to migrate the hard drives. I have my eye on the QNAP TVS-hx74 series. In this regard, the question arises as to which CPU makes the most sense for me (i5, i7,i9). I would like the NAS to be able to transcode 4-5 4k streams (10-50 Mbit/s) simultaneously and possibly have a few reserves for the next few years.
Can you give me advice which would be the most useful?
And maybe one more fundamental question: is the limiting factor in transcoding more the integrated GPU or the CPU?
