New Scan Library option for 'active' running shows

I have a fairly large collection and scanning has become a struggle taking up more then 30 min. It works, but takes a long time. A specially frustrating knowing that 90% of the collection are shows that are no longer running and are complete. Jet every library update scans them over and over and over again.
Meta data includes informations if a show has ended or is continuing.
My suggestion. Give plex a second “update library” option that excludes all shows that have the “ended” status. It would speed up scans (in my case 90%) and lower drive wear.

30 minutes?? You lucky!!! Mine can take about 1.5/2 hours.

Don’t you do partial scan?
scan
Speeds it up big time!!

While that is true, those sites flag the status on the series, that would be hard for plex to do cause plex does not know if a series is “active” or “ended” and would require more codding to scrap that information.
And while this doesn’t apply to most people there are times you might add to those “ended” series, such as, specials that come out later, or adding better theme background artwork, posters, music, etc… All of that would be excluded if the series status is “ended”.

The 30+ min is not an entire library just one section. Its a 110TB library in total.
The Active or Ended information is in theTVDB. Sickrage for instance uses it. Would it be a big challenge to let plex use it as well? it would make the scans so much more efficient.

I notices the update on change does not work that well, aseptically if you are working with a large external nas. Also, for the system to notice the change is another monitoring element that will spin up the disks, I may be wrong.

The reason I proposed two separate update options would resolve the later added stuff.
1, full scan as normal, includes all, just like it is now. (slow)
2. Just shows that have an active status. and skip the rest. (ultra fast)

Okay. That sounds good. If you initiate the scan plex will do all. otherwise, only the “active” ones… Sure…

hope this can get some votes, or maybe this is just a problem for the users with large collections.
