New tv shows and some older ones no longer play

Server Version#: Ubuntu 18.4
Player Version#: 1.15.4.993-bb4a2cb6c
updated to the latest release yesterday. After doing that I got two new tv shows and plex saw them and everything looks fine, but when you go to play them, nothing happens. The screen of the shows backdrop comes up on my pc and on my iPhone it just spins.

I have check a number of older shows and some work, so do not. Did some searching and did not see anything that matched this in the forums.

Can you please recreate the problem (DEBUG logging enabled only)
and then post those logs?

Here is copy of the logsPlex Media Server Logs_2019-05-07_17-49-10.zip (4.8 MB)

I hope that they help with this. I have restarted the plex server many times and even just did a database optimization to see if that would help, and it does not.

The new shows that I am trying to watch through PLEX I can watch via my PC directly. So the files are good.

Thanks for the logs. I see errors, causing failure, when it attempts to convert audio

Have you moved the Transcoder temp or Plex temp directory somewhere?

What’s happening here is the transcoder is waiting for the file but not getting incorrect notification (instantly ready). This causes the collision the logs show.

If you have, and it’s on a network share, this is a problem. Network shares do not notify the local host when files are updated, closed, or even deleted.

No, I do not have this on a network drive. I run Ubuntu and the dirve is mounted.
/dev/sdc1 9.1T 4.7T 4.5T 51% /movies
/dev/sdb1 906G 23G 838G 3% /

However, if I go in and look for the file that the error is saying it can not read, it is not there:

ckolb@UbuntuPlexServer:/tmp/pms-fa267070-d770-46ae-aa9a-5d8425312d44/EasyAudioEncoder/Convert to WAV (to 8ch or less)$ ls -ltr
total 0

What is this file, and the other files in the Easy AdioEncoder? Where can I get these to repair the file. Not sure why they were removed. I did a update of my system the same day, That is the only thing I could think would have done this.

I was able to get things to work by changing the access
sudo chmon -R 777 pms-fa267070-d770-46ae-aa9a-5d8425312d44
and
sudo chmod 777 /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Codecs/EasyAudioEncoder-141-linux-ubuntu-x86_64/EasyAudioEncoder/

Then restarted Plex server. This appears to have fixed the issue.

Once you pointed out the error, I did a search on the Forum for other users with the same issue and found this as the solution from one of them.

Thanks again.

777 is overkill but yes, that would fix it.

It would seem that the Codecs directory contents had the permissions changed somehow to be non-executable which is very odd.

Please do verify ownership is correct:

sudo chown -R plex:plex /var/lib/plexmediaserver (takes a bit)

Thanks. I just ran that command. What are the proper access rights for those files. Before they were rxrxrx. So it sounds like they needed to have the ability to write at the very lease. Perhaps they should have been 775?
