New Update - Settings Backup/Restore

Love this feature addition and have been wanting this for a long time - delighted it’s here.

I don’t seem to be able to find it though - have been through the settings three times, but to no avail. Any tips on where to look?

I’m on Android.

I’d like to know as well and how it works. Given some settings are synced already, along with playlists, what exactly does this backup/restore do. My thought after attempting to look for it in the settings was that perhaps it’s hidden but won’t be activated until the next major update, which was noted to be soon, give or take another month or so.

It’s just enabling the Android backup service, managed through Android system settings to backup your Plexamp settings. This means you won’t have to (for example) reconfigure your custom home screen when moving to a new phone e.g.

Ahh, OK - thanks.

So to make sure I understand, it is syncing to Google/hidden folders in Google drive, and not to Plex?

Is it just the homescreen it restores, or will it set up my Plexamp “exactly” as my last one was?

And if I have Plexamp on two phones, will the settings be transferred to/aligned on both devices?

Yes, the backup is stored in your Google account and counts towards your Google Drive storage allowance. The size of the backup is minimal.

It will backup all settings, not just the homescreen layout.

It’s not device sync, it’s purely a backup/restore for when you replace your device or reinstall the app.

So, if i unstall Plexamp on my phone and reinstall it my homescreen will be restored?

In theory! No idea why you’d want to uninstall Plexamp though

I don’t want to, but it happened one or twice to see if a bug was persistant after a fresh install
