How to replicate watched-status from an existing user to a new one

Hello,

I’ve been using Plex for years now and it’s absolutely fabulous. Congrats to that fine work!

Now that I’m having Plex Pass I’d like to make use of different users in my home with different watched-statuses. You know, my current user knows what we in my home have watched already. If I’m adding a new user, that one will have to start over and will have to set all the watched-states for all our shows: that would take hours or days

Is there any possibility to replicate one user’s watched statuses to another?

I’m using Plex on a Synology NAS and I’m quite savvy on the CLI. Still I have on clue on how Plex’s user management works internally.

Thanks for any reply

ooo, I’d like to do this at some point as well

If you have a Windows installation somewhere, you can shut down the plex server, copy the database file to the Windows machine
The database file is located in the Plex data folder, in a subfolder named
/Plug-in Support/Databases/
The database file itself is named com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

Then use MovieFan’s Plex Database Editor to do copy the ‘watched’ status from one user account to another

Make absolutely sure that plex server is indeed shut down before you copy this file or overwrite it!
Keep a security backup of this file before you make any changes to it, just in case!

Wow, thanks for the quick reply - didn’t expect that. Thank you!
I won’t have time to try it during the next couple of days, but as soon as I do I will report back. Thanks again!

He there,

thanks a bunch. That worked like a breeze. Very easy!
