Newbie: Downloading Music library to Plexamp Android Phone

Apologies for asking a question that has likely come up before but I have searched and can’t find a solution.

Server Version#: 1.41.7.9799
Player Version#:v.12.3

I am trying out Plexamp after many years using Media Monkey to manage and play my media. One of the features of Media Monkey I liked was that it allowed me to synchronise my entire library with my Android phone (useful when there is no network aka off grid).

I have a plex pass.

The streaming side works fine from Plex Media Server, but I can’t find an easy way to download the files to my phone. I tried a workaround which was putting everything into a playlist but it only downloaded a small subset.

I tried to use the download feature on the android but it tells me I need to have a Van but I can’t drive and don’t want one because my mom won’t let me keep it in the driveway.

Please help.

Plex wont let you synchronize your entire library to your phone easily, this is a design decision. You can download albums or playlists up to a certain length of time.

Edit: Just checked and you can download all albums for a specific artist, too.

When trying to be “hip” with your help messages falls flat.

@mottoo On my plexamp I have a playlist called “all music”. I haven’t created this, so I’m sure it’s a default playlist created by Plex.

It seems I’m able to open this playlist and choose to download the entire playlist. Could you do the same?

Thanks for the suggestion. I am trying something very similar with smart playlists. Not being one to boast but the large size of my collection made the whole sync process a bit cumbersome.

Could that be because it’s transcoding every song?
I had to change settings multiple places where it was set to transcode on either playback or download

Thanks for that suggestion - I don’t want to transcode any of my music (it is all in FLAC and I want to keep it that way) and so the answer is, no I don’t think so!

This app seems to get regular updates and so I hope the issue I ran into has been fixed by one of those - will try again.
