Newbie - TV Mode for Plex for Windows vs Plex for Windows?

Hello,

I started with Plex for Windows and had a very hard time using my remote to control plex. I saw a thread where someone suggested Plex Media Player and it was night and day for me - worked much better for me. I then searched and some people were saying that the Plex for Windows was more current.

Is there a TV mode for the Plex for Windows App? Is there anything I’m missing by using the Plex Media Player?

Thanks

There is no TV mode in Plex for Windows.
PMP was “frozen” and thus is missing some newer features.

If you want the 10-foot interface, I recommend to get a nVidia Shield Pro as your Plex client, instead of a PC.

Thanks - I’m not sure what the 10 foot interface is but I’ll look it up in a sec. Thanks for the clarification.

I just looked it up. First article I found said the plex was dropping TV development! If that is true, I’m guessing I’m not the Plex target market.

I am not sure what you have read there.

It may be false rumors but look up many threads on Plex Media Player vs. Plex for Windows. For some reason I’ve read in 5 places so far that Plex doesn’t want to do Plex Media Player development, that they don’t want to do plex development for TV remotes any more and lots of similar posts from different people. It could just be a myth that has been picked up by others but if I’m allowed to, I’ll be happy to post links.

It is true that PMP is not developed any further.
But that doesn’t mean that Plex is not available on TV screens anymore.
There are several TV brands where the Plex app is running natively, on the TV device itself.
There are all kinds of streaming devices with a Plex client like Android TV, Apple TV, FireTV.

Thanks! Now that I got forced subtitles to work by modifying the flag on my files, and an app that works well with the remote, I’m really starting to enjoy plex.
