Can't find the TV Mode button

Hi, I installed the Plex Media Player app on the same machine that has my Plex Media Server installed (Windows). When running the Plex Media Player app I get the same web interface as when I launch PMS. I can’t seem to find the TV Mode button, it’s just not there. I’m not sure if there is an issue having both PMP and PMS on the same system. What’s also weird is I have PMS installed on a Mac and I’m also not seeing the TV Mode button there either. I’ve used it before but it’s just not there now.

are you sure you’re using the plex media player app, and not just the plex app? The Plex Media Player app was going to be retired and not supported… But they changed that, however, I don’t know where to get it from on the site, the only thing available I can see for download is the Plex app, which is devoid of a “TV Mode”, so if you downloaded it recently, I am pretty sure you grabbed the plex app and not the PMP app…

That explains it, I am indeed using the plex app. Thanks for your help! Not sure why they got rid of that. Is there a better alternative? Are they just assuming everyone is using a streaming device?

That’s right! The old(er) Plex Media Player download links are no longer on the official download page.

I just found it in a forum post that I was going to link hehe… You were faster… :smiley: @rjcarpenter you can get the download link from the link that tom80h posted… So you can download PMP and get the TV Mode back

Hi,

I just spent an evening trying to figure out why my new Intel NUC HTPC with a recently downloaded version of Plex didn’t support the TV button… Thought I was going mad.

Does this mean that the earlier PMP version with TV Mode is not to upgradable/unsupported?
