@FordGuy61 Im not as familiar with what is going on here.
What did you change in the sabnzbd setup that affects/touches Plex? The user that runs Plex Media Server?
Iāve never used sabnzbd. If youāre using it to download media for Plex, make sure the downloads go to a temporary/holding directory first. Do not download direct to the Plex libraries. That will cause problems when Plex tries to scan partially downloaded files.
Can Plex play files stored locally on the Plex Media Server?
As a test, copy two or three known good and two or three problematic files to a directory on the Plex server. Create a new library, add the files, and see if Plex plays them OK. Force a video transcode to make sure hardware transcoding works as well.
Regarding mounting the NASā¦
What is the NAS? Synology, QNAP, home built, etc.
Are you using NFS or SMB for the mounts?
See Linux Tips: Mounting NFS network shares for Plex use. Note that you have to set permissions twice. First, after you create the mount point (/mnt/ChiroNAS) and second, after you mount the directories.
- Thatās the real question here as sabnzbd donāt interact with each other or share folders. I donāt know why it should impact Plex in any way but the timing of which files work and which donāt are 100% tied to when that happened. I just assumed that sabnzbd somehow mangled the permissions on files it downloaded but admittedly I donāt really know how permissions work and carry with files moved around. The app downloads to a temp directory, moves to another directory once completed and then 2 other apps handle renaming and moving them to their proper home on the NAS (1 app for TV, 1 for movies). At which point Plex is notified to scan for changes.
- I attempted this and NONE of the files I copied work from the ānewā library. It seems that Plex must be the culprit and not working with any newly added files. The error it pops up is exactly the same from the start of my thread.
- The NAS is QNAP. My mount is based on this. Iāll admit itās not exactly to that guide as it was already mounted and setup with the system BEFORE putting a Plex server on it, but for all intents and purposes my configuration most closely resembles that. I may look in to changing it to match the guide exactly down the road once I can move past the current problem but after the test you had me try in step 2 I feel like my NAS/mount is not currently the problem.
Itās starting to seem that the issue is somewhere in my Plex setup based on the results of trying a 'ānew libraryā. I donāt believe I made any changes to it however I guess it is safe to say I can not rule it out. Is there anything we can try with it or am I now destined to nuke my install and start all over ?
UPDATE:
My problem is finally fixed. It took some time before I had the free time to sit down and go nuclear on this. I followed the Plex guide to backing up my data, as well as screen shot every single settings page as I anticipated some corruption in my settings that would break my new setup after restoration. I then followed the Plex guide to completely remove Plex, re-install and finally bring back my backup. I am happy to say it worked and all was restored properly, and again I can watch my entire library. Unfortunately I am still left with no idea as to why this happened, how I mixed it up in the first place but I am happy to be up and running again.
Thank you for all the time spent trying to help me through this!
