Newest update means season posters show in continue watching

Hopefully this change was an accident and not intended… if so give people the option OR change it back - Why do Plex never listen to what people actually want

I suppose you’re referring to this change/fix in Plex Web (same in the regular desktop apps):

I guess they do.

I didn’t see mine change is it because I use Kometa and all my series posters are custom (locked)?

It’s not fixed on Mac yet strangely… and I guess if someone has asked for it I revert to my original post - give people the choice rather than forcing one or the other :joy:

I like choices too.

After the upgrade, I noticed that in the “Continue Watching” section, some items display the series poster while others display the season poster. I suspect there might still be a bug. If there are any changes, please provide users with an option to choose whether to display the series poster or the season poster. Currently, the issue is that some items show the series poster and others show the season poster.

I just figured out why some items in the “Continue Watching” section display the TV show poster, while others show the season poster.

If an item in “Continue Watching” has playback progress, meaning you’ve already watched part of it, it will display the TV show poster.

However, if “Continue Watching” shows the next episode, which is a brand-new episode you haven’t watched yet, it will display the season poster. Once you start watching that episode and there’s playback progress, it will switch back to showing the TV show poster, following the same pattern as before.

I’m not sure if this is an intentional design or a bug.

In my opinion, this is a bug. If it’s meant to display the TV show poster, it should consistently use the TV show poster instead of changing based on the viewing status, as this can easily cause confusion.

I agree I would like to be able to see the artwork for the season I’m watching in the continue watching section. I have put a lot of time and effort into custom artwork to get my plex library looking the way I want it and it would be nice to see that art work without having to go into the tv shows just to view it. Clearly shouldn’t have wasted my time, but due to OCD which I’m sure most of us can relate to, I wanted things to look a certain way and could not leave a job part way done.

I suspect this issue only occurs in places using Web Clients, such as Plex Web and Desktop, because I checked my Plex for iOS 8.35 and didn’t encounter this problem.

Plex for Mac 1.102.0.230-7301ebfb has fixed this bug, but Plex Web 4.136.1 still has this bug.
