Newly Discovered Plex Web App Bug

Server Version#: 3.104.1
Player Version#:Web App

So when you have a editing window open, for example adding a new library, or editing a movie’s info…I’ve noticed when I drag the mouse to highlight an area for copy or deletion etc…if the mouse travels outside the boundaries of the edit box window (not just the text box but the actual window itself)…and then the mouse is released…the whole window closes. This is very annoying when you’re trying to zip through and you’re going fast and you highlight something then when your mouse button releases BOOM, the window is just gone! This is a bug and should be fixed it would make editing a heck of a lot easier.

I’m wondering what browser you’re using. I just tried this on Firefox and Chromium (on Linux OS), and the edit window doesn’t close.

Not new to me, but definitely happens to me too! I just simply thought it was my mouse, but now I’m thinking differently…
I normally use Chrome Browser. I can check in Firefox, but why should I have to?

The browser window doesn’t close for me, but the edit modal does.
Very annoying when marking something with the mouse for cut&paste – particularly if you have already made other edits.

I’ll file it as a bug. [edit: Done]

Google Chrome

Yup chrome browser is what I use. A simple way to test it is open Plex Web App in chrome browser, click + button to make a new llibrary…select any of them…highlight the name field with mouse from right to left…and drag the mouse all the way outside the edit window…then release…and the window closes.

Ah thank you. Yeah the browser doesn’t close the edit window closes and like you said if you’re already entered data it’s annoying having to do it all over again.

Now at work in my Windows environment, I’ve tried this on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. The problem seems to be unique to Chrome.

Thus illustrating the value of being a cooperative part of the community, @skidaddl3.

@beckfield
I see that you are only a Plex Pass member too, not a Plex Employee.
I have also paid for an unfinished product, so it seems. So go figure?
Have you also tried Opera Browser (Mini, mobile app versions), Safari, UC Browser or even Netscape, @beckfield?

@OttoKerner
Thank you. And thank you to @produce for actually bringing up the issue. I also misread that it was @produce 's whole browser window closing. My “edit modal” was only closing, but same kind of end result, being that you lose your unsaved edits.
