"Next Episode" plays first episode

Recently I’ve noticed that on my webOS TV’s plex app the ‘Next episode’ button plays the first episode in the series rather than the next unplayed episode. That is, if I select a series that has 5/7 episodes played (that I watched the last episode of on the same device), if I select the series then click “Next Episode” it will play S01E01. If the button instead says “Resume” it will work as expected however. It’s just “Next Episode”.

Same issue here too noticed in the last few days,

Software version (Latest - 05.30.25)
Plex App - 5.1.2
Updated 04/07/2022

Plex Server Version - 1.32.0.6918

Weird since that button has always worked to play the latest episoide that I have not yet seen but now no matter what I do, including unmarking a season as watched and re-marking it again, it defaults to play S01E01 of any TV show.

If I go into the Season and select Play it will play the next episode ‘on deck’ which is annoying having to click into the TV Show then the season to then hit play rather than just going into the TV show and selecting ‘Next Episode’.

I can even see I have season 4 episode 15 ‘On Deck’ on the main TV show screen but Next Episode will always play S01E01.

This started happening for me also on Samsung TV. Only since the latest update. Plex please fix this as its so annoying. Always worked previously

TV had an update and now resumes properly!

No update here for the LG WebOS Plex App. Last update is still April 7 2023.

Nevermind, I take it back. The PMS updated and seems to have resolved the issue for me.

Experiencing the same issue. Samsung TV. When selecting play at the series level with a TV show with multiple seasons the first episode of Season 01 and/or Season 00 starts playing even though the first episode is marked watched and/or Season 01 is marked watched.

I have the same issues on Apple TV, IOS, and web browser. I believe there was an update and then this started happening. I can not say which one as I didn’t notice it.

I have also had this issue a few times on the Apple TV app. Having just upgraded to 8.20 (6066), it seems to have happened again.

As noted, this is extremely frustrating, and I would love a fix.

I have the same issue. PMS v:PlexMediaServer-1.32.3.7192-7aa441827 on ubuntu; clients on Apple TV 4k, Apple TV HD, and iPad. On Deck shows the correct next episode but press Play on the show and it plays S01E01. :frowning:

Same issue on my Apple TV’s. Pressing play on the show will always play episode S01E01 instead of the next unwatched episode. Has been going on for a couple of weeks now.

AppleTV has the issue but FireTVs don’t
