NFO agent

you’ll need to either a) wait for the update to local media agent or B) flag yours for development and make changes yourself until it is updated.

Hi Harley

Sorry to insist on that matter but do you still plan to get that scan happened for TV shows too?
Thansk for your great work

sorry. yes. That got pushed this week to get the nfo info provider working. I have now started on the TV version though.

Thank you Harley and sorry again for having pushed :)

Don't worry about it. It'll help me out to have it too fir when I put the parrot on my shoulder an become haaaarrrrrgggghhhhley

Hi

First of all… Thanks to Harley and the others for looking at my (and others problems). You are doing an awesome Job.

I tested your NFO Agent. And its really a huge step in the right direction.

But I still have a few questions if that’s OK?

So with your Agent I was perfectly able to Import Metadata like Plot Title and Year etc…

But I recognized that if you have more than 1 Director for a movie in the NFO-File it shows up llike this in Plex: Director 1 / Director 2 / Director 3

Is it possible to add more than one director for a movie and get it listed as single ones in Plex?

Another question I have is: Is this Agent able to get Posters, Fanarts, Banners and Actor Images from a Webadress I set up in the NFO File?

I don’t know if the Agent is able and before I will try for weeks I thought I might just ask.

Some issue came up here while scanning my NFOs. My NFos contain (like mentioned before) Webadresses for Fanarts, Posters and so on.

After scanning them non of the shows up, BUT the last Actor Image listed in the NFO-File gets set up as the Movies Poster. I played with it a little bit and was surprised. Its really always the last Actor Image.

Maybe if you got a few minutes of time in the near future you can answer me these questions or even have a look at it.

Thank you so much.

Keep on the great work I am sure many many people here a really thankfull for that.

Daniel

Daniel,

This agent does not look for local art. I did not see the need to reinvent the wheel on that one and instead will rely on LocalMedia agent to grab that. That being said, I don’t think localmedia agent has been updated to also support xbmcnfo yet. as soon as it is, or if you chnage yours in two specific ways, you won’t get local movie posters.

I know where the fault is in the director scan / genre scan. It will only take me about 25 mins from start to finish to fix this, but that will happen after the tv agent. Poor chris has been waiting too long.

I am going to be fairly busy the rest of this week, so no specific time tables on any new agents or fixes. But the tv agent is at the top.

Now, back to playing bejeweled.

Awesome!
Thanks again!

First of all I also have to point out that Harley actually did an awesom job.
When I read Harleys above post I was a bit confused because my intention of the nfo-scanner was to get all data stored from the exported library of XBMC (including fanart, posters tnb.file and of course the plot). Trying some options of Elans latest update of PLEX I learned that Harley is absolutely right. There is no need to re-event the wheel.
Everything might be available now to get at least the information from the library-file. But I think there is a modification necessary in the info provider settings to get movie-plot, custom tailored name of the movie (eg. James Bond 01- Dr. No) and the tnb-file with the poster or cover to show up in PLEX. If you have a look on attached picture 1 in the pull down Info provider settings only drop box for XBMC .nfo importer and freebase is mentioned. The drop box for Local Media assets has to be added to get the missing information e.g poster) by rescanning. Then everything will be perfect - without discussing now on the (ugly and not required) adding nfo_ in front of the movie-title
If you have a look on picture 2 (Freebase) everything can be added and required info shows up but with the result of mixing the movies with original English title. A compromise I can stay with, till further improvement will come up. Even pic 1 with addition of Local Media assets might help a lot of foreign fans of PLEX.
Be sure that PLEX will become the perfect media-center with all options for TV, internet-streaming and homecinema.

Richard,

When you supply XBMCnfo as your primary agent, does the custom title from the nfo show up as the display name in Media Manager? I am confused by your post. Also, I tested the nfo povider with a modified local media agent, and as long as your file has the same name, localmedia will find your poster. There are many scenarios where that poster may not exist though, so if you have an IMDB I'd in the tag of your nfo, any other agent that contributes to XBMCnfo should work and pull in metadata.

For example, say I rip a new DVD, an want q custom title. Now all I have to do is make an abbreviated nfo with the custom name and IMDB I'd for information to show up as I would like because I put already developed agents to work for me. If enough time passes without an update the agents, I will give directions on how to change your agents if you haven't already figured it out

Just one question before I can start with an example. Shall I use configuration as per picture1 or picture 2?

regards

Richard

Picture 1 please. Picture 2 is more suited for the XBMC agent, not info provider.

OK What i have done:
1. Deleted old previous section and created new one as per config 2nd pic 1
2. scanned this section with a bundle of different series Movies (indiana Jones, James Bond, Rocky etc)
3. Result shows up as per pic 2nd pic 2 first scan ( original custom movie-names and some movies show up with poster of actors)
4. Individual movie (e.g. Dirty Harry) 2nd pic result first movie shows plot (thats great) but no poster or tnb-file
5. Just for your information the result in PLEX pic 2nd result PLEX
6. How I got metadata from XBMC2nd result XBMC as per 2nd result XBMC (to be similar with PLEX)

One personal question in which timezone you are living? Greenwich (it seems you work 24 hours)

Richard

Other than the nfo thing (which will be fixed right quick) the behaviour is exactly as I expect. It is possible for me to code in local art, but I really don’t want to, and I don’t see the point. The localmedia agent will be updated, and this way we’re not an island unto ourselves, but merge beautifully with plex’s architecture.

As for the time zone, I am in the eastern US, but plex is my number 1 hobby. I have 3 more plugins I want to get out, xbmcnfotv scanner that is mostly done at this point, a plex xml backup applet, a plex xml agent similar to this one, and a badass new plugin concept. And since it is fun, why not!

here is the updated xbmcnfo agent that does not give “Nfo_” in the name.

Hi Harley,

Thanks a lot for your answer. This clears up the situation. As mentioned in my previous post (and to follow PLEX structure) we have to wait for the update with additional drop-box Local Media Assets.
By the way had a quick look on your attached xbmcnfo agent. All movies are now in perfect order according to custom names. Only "Nfo_" is still in the name. Sorry for that
Will try more options after I am back from work

Richard

try a rescan because that code is no longer in the provider.

Everything is fine now. Thanks a lot. looking forward for the next masterpiece

Just an update…the tv show provider is coming along. way more involved than the movie provider. I have the show info and the season info. just need to wrap up the episode info. RL will get in the way though, so it’ll be a few days.
