Nicknames for friends (library access)

Hi Plex!

I see that home users have nickname section to separate their real email from name from nickname.

What about friends we share content with via shared library access? Some of them use obnoxious or cryptic usernames when signing to Plex, it would be a nice thing if we could add a friendly name instead:

So instead of watching together with cinight893 I would see Tom, etc.

Users can set nick names or clear names aside from their user account name for themselves (no matter if they’re managed or regular users). There’s a very recent suggestion which is already discussing an option to assign nick names for your own purposes to friends. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.

Customize friend names/icons

I wish it was possible to set “friendly” names and icons I recognize for “friends” that use my Plex server. You know, those people with their own accounts and received an invite from me? Few (if any) of mine have chosen to set anything (or what they’ve set doesn’t pass to my server) so I see user names like xyzzy3.1415 which aren’t especially useful. The icons are just a letter on a colored background, but most of them appear to be a letter that doesn’t seem related to the user’s real name, s…
